Mission Statement
SCRET focuses on wrecks located in deeper water that have not been previously explored
SCRET is a Washington non-profit organization promoting the exploration, identification, documentation, and recovery of submerged cultural resources, primarily in the Pacific Northwest.
SCRET has the following goals:
- Explore, identify, and document submerged cultural resources such as shipwrecks, aircraft, and other wreckage of historical interest
- Produce high-quality video documentation of submerged cultural resources in the Pacific Northwest
- Document the deterioration of submerged cultural resources over time by visiting certain wrecks on a continuing basis to record conditions over time
- Develop standards for conducting safe diving operations on wrecks located in deeper water
- Work with government agencies to ensure that submerged cultural resources are protected from harm such as wrecks located in commercial anchorage areas that are exposed to damage from anchors of large commercial vessels
- Educate the public about the historical significance and importance of submerged cultural resources in the Pacific Northwest
